Design with Curves - The student creates a small design using a compass, French curve, and/or other found objects. Composition, color, actual drafting of the design, accurate piecing techniques and quilting design will be taught. Depending on time, some or all of the top will be pieced. Intermediate to advanced level.

Free to Play - This class is just a fun class with small non-threatening exercises designed to help pull the student out of their "comfort zone" and begin to design and piece a top, using the results from one or more of the exercises. All levels.

Fun with Landscapes - Although the thought of creating a landscape quilt can seem like a daunting task to some, with some simple steps, you will be well on your way to a beautiful quilted landscape. Using a photograph or picture of your own, or a design I provide, I will guide you step-by-step. For a 1-2 day class, you will work small, around a 9" X 12". For 3-5 day classes, a much larger piece can be made and a more thorough presentation of techniques such as fusible appliqué, decorative embellishments, machine appliqué, free motion embroidery and other surface design embellishments can be given. 1-2 day, beginner to advanced, 3-5 day, intermediate to advanced.

Have Fun with Paint - Using some basic colors of fabric paint, sponges, brushes, and numerous found objects, you will discover the endless possibilities of what you can do to a plain piece of fabric. You will experiment with monoprinting, stencils, carving your own stamps, sunprinting... the list is limitless. Anything will be up for grabs that is not nailed or glued down. All levels.

Journal Quilt - Journal quilts are a great way to stretch your imagination and experiment with new ideas in a short amount of time because of their small size. It can be the beginning of a new series, a technique or design you might want to explore or just go with the flow and create a collage. Numerous techniques and embellishment ideas will be presented. All levels.

Playing with Dyes - Using Procion MX dyes in primary colors, you will learn how to mix dyes and dye your own fabric, from single color to gradations to multi-colored. This class will also give you a better understanding of color theory. How much yardage you can dye is dependent on the class length. Previous experience is helpful, but not required. 1 day - multi-colored dyeing, 2-3 day - multi-colored and gradations /or solid color, 4-5 day - all three along with some overdyeing and monoprinting with thickened dyes.

Playing with Free Motion Quilting - Learn the basics of free motion quilting. Decision making about batting, threads, design and basting will be discussed. You will quilt samples of leaves, feathers, vines, flowers, circles, spirals, meandering and and more. This class is suitable for the beginner as well as the advanced student who wants to increase their skill. One day will cover what is stated above. In a 2 day class, you will also explore other types of threads, bobbin work, twin needles and different types of stabilizers for hoop work.

Resisting and Discharging - In this class you will learn how to create some very unusual fabrics. For resisting fabrics, a resist will be applied to fabric. Procion MX dyes are then applied over the resist. Different types of resist will be explored. For discharging fabrics, color will be "removed" from the fabric, resulting in some very interesting textures. The techniques are a lot of fun and you will be amazed at your results. Some dyeing experience helpful. Note: If this is scheduled as a one day class, only resisting or discharging can be taught, not both. Advanced beginner level.

You Have My Permission to Play - This is a technique only class where depending on time and restraints, different embellishing techniques will be presented; angelina, foil, tyvek fabric, paints, thickened dyes, working with sheers, i.e. tulle, chiffon, etc. All levels.
